I disagree!

I was going to post a picture of my free Cottonelle Toilet paper (not that it is that exciting but the visuals are nice) however I am too tired to do it.  So, anyway Cottonelle 4 packs are on sale at Kroger for .99 this week.  In last Sunday’s paper, there were coupons for .50 off Cottonelle 4 packs or more.  Kroger doubles coupons up to .99/some $1.00, which makes FREE TOILET PAPER!  I had 5 coupons from other papers, so I got 20 rolls of free toilet paper!  I love getting free stuff.  You all just have no idea how much money coupons and deal shopping has saved my family.

Oh, and we are back in the free baby food business!!!  I went on Food Lion’s website and found more coupons in the baby section:)

OK, now what is better than free stuff?  Making money shopping!!!  That is what I plan to do tomorrow.  For those of you who don’t know Walgreen’s has a rebate booklet, right in the front of every store I have ever been in, and it has LOTS of free after rebate items in it.  So, tomorrow I am going to Walgreen’s and getting the following items…

1 Nivea for Men Body Wash @ $4.99
$1/1 coupon from the 7/20 Sunday paper coupons

Free plus $1 overage after coupon and rebate

1 L’oreal RevitaLift Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate at $16.49
$3/1 coupon from the 7/20 Sunday paper

Free plus $3 overage after coupon and rebate

Buy 1 Crest Pro-Health toothpaste at $3.79
$0.75/1 coupon from the 8/3 sun paper
Free plus overage after coupon and rebate

1 Revlon Nail Color at $4.79
Use $2/1 coupon from the 8/24 Sun paper

Free plus $2 overage after coupon and rebate

I am also getting a few other filler items, I have coupons, for like Glade Plug ins BOGO Free with store sale and then I have BOGO free coupons, therefore getting them both for FREE.  Did  you know you could do that?  I get free stuff like that all of the time.  Stores have something on sale Buy One Get One Free and you get Buy One Get One Free coupons and you get 2 items for FREE!!!  That’s awesome.

Anyway, you can either send in your Walgreen’s rebates to get a check back in the mail or you can use a rechargeable gift card.  If you choose the gift card, they add a 10% bonus which means you don’t even pay taxes on your free stuff!!  So, basically, to get started at Walgreen’s, you go one time buy all of the free after rebate items and send in for your rebate on your gift card with 10% bonus and you never have to spend money out of pocket again, you just get new free items every month, use your gift card to buy them, then have Walgreen’s recharge your gift for your free after rebate items each month!  Now, you can go here http://www.walgreens.com/hotbuys/default.jspec=hn583_getcoupon and get a Walgreen’s coupon for $10.00 off of a $40.00 purchase.  So, get the fee after rebate items, use your coupon, get your money back and Walgreen’s just paid you to shop!!!  I know this may sound confusing, but it’s easy.  You can do the rebate online!  You get lots of free stuff!

I hope this makes sense to everyone, as I said, I am pretty exhausted.  For the record, I have not been posting food pics because Josh has been out of town.  I don’t cook much when he is gone.  He will be back tomorrow!!  We are very excited, he has been gone for 2 weeks, and it has been challenging for me to say the least!  Feel free to ask questions and I will answer them the best I can!

This weekend, I was truly blessed.  I went to a women’s conference with the guest speaker Priscilla Shirer, I had a wonderful time.  Also, after this wonderful conference, we had a guest speaker at church (our pastor is on mission in Central Asia) and he was awesome.  Our church is doing a series on “Reaching the Next Generation”.  It is wonderful, I have looked forward to hearing more every Sunday!  You can listen to the sermons on the website www.longhollow.com  Yesterday’s sermon by David Nasser should be posted soon!  It is worth listening to.  I hope everyone has a great week.  I love keeping in touch with everyone.

The other day, some people bought the land that surrounds my parent’s home.  They are from the country (the sticks, lol) where I went to high school, they took down a bunch of trees and brush and then decided to burn it.  That didn’t work well in the city, lol.  They hardly had it started before the police were there, then came the fire trucks.  Carter loved it!  The fire department was out there putting out the fire right in mom’s backyard and Carter got to watch the whole thing.  He loved it!  So, what was the highlight of  your day?

So, I am probably speaking WAY too soon or something, but so far so good.  Carter has been introduced to the potty before and he even went a few times at my mom’s in the little potty, but on Thursday I thought we need to really try potty training.  I wanted him to learn in the regular potty because I have heard from my sister and other moms that it is easier than retraining them to go in the big potty after they go in the little potty.

Anyway, Thursday as soon as Carter woke up, I put on his big boy underwear.  He only had two accidents all day.  I thought that was good.  Friday he had his first poop in the potty!  Actually 3 of them, lol.  It amazed me though that (he was at my mom’s) he wasn’t even told to go or asked if he had to go, he just went in there and went.  It’s just like he knows what he is doing.  So, Friday, one accident at nap time…Sat. one accident outside…Today, no accidents!  I was nervous because we went to church this morning and I thought about just putting a pull up on him while he was there, but I didn’t want to confuse him.  So, we dropped him off at 8am, picked him up after worship and small group at 11am, same clothes!  I was soooo excited.

He has just done wonderful.  We used M & Ms for rewards (and marshmellows at my mom’s because she was out of M & Ms) but it’s only been 3 days and he doesn’t even ask for a reward anymore!  So, way to go Carter!  Oh yeah, we are using pull ups at night time, but he doing good he is either not wet or barely wet in the morning.

For those of you that this is too much information, you should have stopped after reading the title:)  This is very exciting for me, one in diapers at a time is enough!

For me…Yes and absolutely!

I often tell my friends about great deals I get on products and free stuff I get all of the time!  My sister introduced me to coupon shopping and deals in April, and I have been saving TONS of money since then.  For me, it takes little time and effort for the benefit my family receives.  I plan to start posting my deals here so, I’ll begin with today’s purchase.  Please feel free to post your great deals also.  One of my favorite sites is www.moneysavingmom.typepad.com I have been told by a few friends that is overwhelming though.  So, we’ll begin here:

I ran into Target early and purchased this… (for the record we usually eat healthy for breakfast, these pop tarts will last us a while!, well depending on when Josh finds them, lol)

2 packs Kelloggs Fruit Snacks (Nemo and Cars for Carter)  $1.75 each

6 boxes of Kellogg’s Pop Tarts 5 @ $1.67 and 1 @ $1.75 -not sure why one box was more something special I guess

2 boxes of Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats $2.50 each

Total with tax:   $20.04

(5)  -.50 Target Pop tarts Coupon found at http://www.afullcup.com/forums/cmps_index.php?page=coupon_generator (should have used 6 of these but I only printed 5)

Total after Target Coupons $17.54

(5) -$1.00 Kellogg’s Coupons these coupons are for $1.00 off of 2 Kellogg’s breakfast products found in the Sunday paper

Total after manufacturer’s coupons $12.54 My actual total was $12.35 I guess adjusted tax after coupons

So, I paid $12.35 and then I just mailed a $10.00 Mail in rebate for the purchase of 10 Kellogg’s products (found in the Sunday paper)

Making my Total oop (out of pocket) $2.35!!!!  Not bad for $20.04 worth of breakfast foods and snacks!

So, many of you want to know, where do you begin

-start with clipping coupons out of the Sunday paper, I clip ALL coupons because even if you don’t need the product, there are often things that are money makers (this means you make money buying them!).  If you are making money buying something donate your free items you don’t use every few months to a soldier in Iraq or local shelter, church, you can find something to do with free products!  I love making gift baskets with mine!  Stay tuned for more information and please post and comments/questions you have.  I would love to answer questions, and post your latest deals too!

FYI:   You can “stack” coupons anywhere if you have a store coupon (ie Target Coupon) you can use that and a manufacturer’s coupon (like from the Sun. paper) on one product!

Make a wish Mack Mack!

Birthday girl sliding to her mommy

Happy birthday to my sweet, beautiful niece Mack Mack today!  Leslie and Brandon had her party at mygym in Hendersonville (http://www.my-gym.com/franchisee.asp?gymid=393) last weekend.  It was LOTS of fun, the kids had a blast!  Here are a few pics of the birthday girl and all of the kids having a blast!

My beautiful niece and Maddox are currently on the front page of the site:)

So, my sweet Maddox is 6 months old today, can you believe it?  Time truly does fly by.  He went to the Dr. this morning and he is perfectly healthy.  He is 26″ tall, weighs 18lbs and 10ozs!, and head circumference is 17.  It’s so funny to me that everyone always thought Carter was HUGE, however Carter at 6 months was 25 3/4″ tall,  16lbs 12ozs, and head circumference 17.  I think Carter is just always going to seem big next to tiny cousin Cooper (who is 4 and Carter is almost as tall as he is)  and petite cousin Mack Mack (5 weeks younger)  Anyway, Maddox started cereal 2 weeks ago, he LOVES it!  He is still nursing, going well also, hoping to make it 9 months.  He is so happy, hardly ever fussy.  He loves his big brother!  He tries really hard to crawl, but not doing it yet.  No sitting up or teeth yet either. he’s just being my angel baby.  We plan to start green beans tomorrow!  That’s pretty much everything about Maddox for now!

Family Size Chicken Burrito

Family Size Chicken Burrito

So, I am thinking maybe I will TRY and post more about our meals.  This is already encouraged me to do a better job dusting off my 800 cookbooks and making different things for meals at home.  Josh is already loving it!  So, dinner last night was a family size chicken burrito and chips and salsa.

Burrito

4 tortillias placed on a cooking sheeet slightly overlapping

spread on a can refried beans

add chicken (I used canned chicken on sale at Publix BOGO this week)

add chopped onion

add cheese

Fold over ends of tortillas to meet at the top and add tomato slices and a little more cheese

Bake at 425 for 15-20 min

We had lettuce, sour cream, salsa, and extra onions for toppings

Total meal price approx. $5.00 (less than $1.75 each isn’t too bad I don’t think)

Waffles with bananas

Waffles with sliced bananas

Nothing spectacular, but Carter loved it.  Also, I found that with slicing bananas we used a LOT less syrup.  We all love syrup, but using less is heathier!  Speaking of syrup, we have a HUGE container shipped to us from Josh’s Aunt Brenda and Uncle Greg in upstate NY, it is pure maple syrup and it’s awesome!   We tried Publix’s waffles and they were good, cheaper than other brands!

Octupus Hot Dog on Macaroni

Octupus Hot Dog on Macaroni

Apparently LOTS!  Carter kept saying “Wow…Mom”  Although he was quite confused that he was supposed to eat it:)  There is typically nothing “blog worthy” about my dinners, but since I have been staying home, I decided I actually enjoy cooking.  Another BIG reason I have enjoyed it more is that Josh’s new weekly task is picking the dinner menu.  He makes it on Sun., then I cook his choices all week.  It is so much easier than the “what do you want for dinner?” conversations!  I also tried macaroni with a 1/4 cup of salsa and a 1/4 cup of tomato paste mixed in, it was pretty good.  Just trying to mix it up a little.  I don’t usually make breads or potatos with dinner, so it’s usually corn, green beans and/or macaroni.  So we had steak, corn, and salsa macaroni, lol.  I did also make strawberry muffins, Carter loved them.  We are usually VERY boring with dinner.  I am trying to do better though.

Baker is staying the night, and he and Carter are playing great! They are watching tv now winding down.  This is earlier when they washed my van;)
